The German Engineering Federation (VDMA) represents the interests of around 3,000 machinery manufacturers. Some 914,000 employees in the industry produce an annual output of € 190 billion, 72% of which is shipped to the export market. VDMA members account for more than 40% of the European investment goods industry. The industry’s worldwide reputation for innovation is based on the technical sophistication of more than 20,000 product types.

The production of woodworking machinery in Germany has a long tradition. It is not unusual to find companies that have been in the business for more than 100 years.

VDMA’s German Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers Association is a national organization which represents 85% of German woodworking machinery, tools and systems manufacturers.

We actively support the transfer of information relating to new technologies and services to companies in the wood industry. We represent the business and technological interests of the industry and engage in research and seminar activities. The German Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers Association is a co-organizer of LIGNA, the world wood and forestry industry show in Hanover, and HOLZ-HANDWERK, the European machinery and production supplies trade show in Nuremberg.
